8" installed, yoke question
I took out my stock 6 cyl rearend this evening and put in the 8". Now I have a V8 driveshaft and I know it does need to be cut, about an inch.
I also noticed/realized that the V8 yoke is a bit longer. However, it is the same spline. The V8's internal splined length is the same, but the yoke itself is longer. There is an extension of the yoke tube past the splines. Does this make sense? I assume it will to those that have done the swap... Now the question is, do I need to get the yoke cut down as well? Seems like a reasonable answer.
HOWEVER, I have a T5 that will be installed within the next year, and it seems to fit into that perfect. When I put the V8 yoke in my currently-installed automatic, however, it sticks out a bit far (due to the extra long yoke housing)
Do I just need to have it cut down now so I can install it on the automatic, and then find another, uncut one when I got to put the T5 in?
Everything is installed, brakes are bled, and I'm ready to go to the driveline shop tomorrow . . I just need some info here.
