Welcome.

Check the places people mentioned before completing the deal, if you can. If the car is rough in those spots, it may be cheaper to buy a car with the repairs already made.

In other words, a $600 car that needs 4k in body work (and has no motor) is more expensive than just finding a $3000 non rusty coupe with a motor.

Good luck, post pictures!

Ditto moonweasel. I bought mine for 3000, drove it for a couple of weeks and then dug in. Floorpans! A little surgery and cancer treatment and the floor was good to go. Get a Marti report. Its like a baby book for your car. Youll appreciate knowing where it came from. If you can get one with a running motor it will help keep you motivated. My entire interior is gone and is now a spotted dog, but I drive it to my buddies for our morning work. Just hearing it run keeps me going! Where I didnt install new metal floors, i grinded and used a rust inhibitor. The stuff is like chemo! Worth every cent!

Can you get a Marti on a 66? I didn't think they went back that far.
