65 5.0?
Hey there I am new to the Mustang world. I don't even have one yet. but I am picking up a 65' coupe soon and wanted to start gathering info on the details of my build plan. I am planning on tearing it down to the bare frame and then building it back up one part at a time. I want to drop in a built 5.0 and drive line to match. I am sure that there are mount kits for this out there, but i am not sure where to look or what big problems I am going to come across. I am going over the whole frame, body, and inside before I do any work to the drive line, like i said this is going to be ground up resto/mod. I am not planning on this car rolling under it's own power for atleast 18 months. Any info or tips you can give would be more than welcome. thanks. Kobi.
Please don't warn me about the price and time this will take, my daily driver is a Toyota MR2 Turbo (3sgte engine) that was an NA (5sfe engine) and every thing about the MR2 takes more money and time than the mustangs of my friends.

You have asked a very broad question that would take volumes to answer. Almost anything is possible to make a restomod out of a vintage mustang. Get your mustang, tear it down, restore the body as you like it, then come back with specific questions about the running chassis.
Not a full swap article but it is a conversion using EFI.
Dont now if it will help much

thanks for the link. That answers a lot of my little questions. i guess the only thing left that i was wondering about is mounting the engine and tranny. sense the manifold mounted up pretty easy will the block from a 5.0 mount up with out much hassle?
From what I understand, you will have clearance problems for your headers with the 65 shock towers being in the way, but lots of guys have upgraded with the Mustang II front end, and can do it. If it were mine, I would consider building a 351 Cleveland. but would have to consider seriously which headers to go with.

I'd personally reccomend going to websites like NPD, Mustangs Plus, Texas Mustang, and Summit Ricing and order their catalogs to give you an idea of what's available. You wouldn't believe how insanely cheap all this stuff is. If course, for the cost of what I'm planning on putting in to my stang I could probably pay for a new cobra kit car minus the drivetrain. But then I'd be sitting in my garage pretending to drive it instead of actually going out and tearing up the road.
