Question Engine Removal - Getting it together

I am about to pull my 6 cylinder from my 65. I can't quite figure out how to connect the engine leveler to the block. I want to pull the engine and transmission together.

Do I need to buy a specific type of bolt to make this connection?

All suggestions appreciated.

you can either connect it to the intake bolts which you will need longer bolts or you can put two back by the trans and the other two up front... you might have to take the carb off....

Two strapes under the oil pan. It will work.

As long as you plan on replacing the oil pan gaskets and possibly the oil pan itself.
This would work but is not recommended.

I have always used a bolt at the front of the cylinder head and back of the cylinder head.Take the bolt out and insert a short amount of chain, put the bolts back in,then hooked the leveler to that.
Those bolts will be enough to pull both the engine and transmission at the same time and hold it.

Default Still scratching my head

Thanks for the replies. Being a complete rookie at this, I'm still a little unclear on how to accomplish the 6-cylinder removal. I prefer not to have to pull the cylinder head off to hoist the motor. However, I don't see any bolts/bolt holes on the outside of the block for connecting the chain.

If I connect to the manifold bolts, will the block pull to one side.

Pictures would be great if anyone has some.

Thanks!

He doesn't recommend doing it the way he did(3rd post), but you could try.
