Default Tricky Question: Center console + Hurst, problem?

My car's PO installed a Hurst (as we discussed the other day).

I have some pics below, that probably wont be TOO helpful with this question, but a nice Mustang guy about an hour from where I live has a line on a factory center console. Always wanted one, and the price is VERY right.

Do you more experienced people think that it will fit? My PO may have not installed the Hurst "professionally", so I dont know if the hole has been tweaked. Maybe the pics will help.

One thing I was considering, I am hoping that maybe I just need to make my own / modify an original manual tranny insert, but use the rest of the console as is.

PS - Thanks all who helped with the clutch rubber install thread a while back, you can see it installed in these shots.

Oh, can you tell why I didn't know that I had a lock out at first? Sucker was hidden in there.

I don't think a console will fit with that shifter. Pull the boot off and see if the tunnel is cut and if the shifter rises straight up from the mounting bracket. You could always buy the console and sit on it until later.

Oxnard,

That's what I was thinking. Would be around $200. I am assuming with harness.

This is NOT the finished console. I still don't have a final picture of the finished console. The finished console has cover inside cup holder and shift boot. I will try to get a pic tomorrow while I am working on the clutch. Space above the shifter is for the gauges I am going to add in the future.

BA,

Thats my other alternative. I was goign to buy the chrome trim (I already have the manually surround and an ashtray), the storage door, the light, and the harness, then build something custom. That way it will look sort of stock, but I will still have the short throw shifter.

Nice BA. Looks awesome in black, I would be tempted to get some red vinyl for it. (NOT knocking your work, it looks great)

I thought about red vinyl also. But the place that I went to didn't have the right color red. So I just went with a color that goes with all colors, black.
