I have a 69 coupe. When I bought my 4sp toploader for it, the trans had a Hurst super shifter with reverse lockout installed on it. I had to modify my trans tunnel to get it to fit. From the factory consoles I've seen, there is no way the shifter is going to work with them. I traded the super shifter for a Hurst comp plus shifter. I do believe the factory console will work fine with a comp plus shifter.

I think I should pick it up and just sit on it for now. I can't imagine original center consoles getting any more common in the future. I'd like to have one in case I change my mind.
