I noticed on the bottom (underneath) of this 4bbl intake manifold that there is a small hole / vent that looks like its been squished in. Should that be open?

I thought it need too. I remeber the 2 bbl I had was open.

Please see the below pictures.... It looks like it was sodered shut... I would drill it open if it needs to be open....

 

If its just a heat shield a hole is ok.(lets the splash up oil drain back into the valley)

 

very true oil can get back, but why would there be oil in the first place ????
i've never seen this before
