Hell, I owned a 72 Tbird for 2 monthes, I think I'll go to tbirdforums.com and become a moderator.
Tough crowd

I have been modding on this site for a while now and yes I still am moderator for the S197 sections as well as the rest of the site. JamesW asked for help and I replied that I would like to help (in the ultra secret room for ADMIN and mods) and just kept persisting that they give me more powers in the other sections and the fact that the 5 mods in the S197 sections are doing their jobs extremely well and can handle not seeing me as much and lurking around here more to help out James. He mentioned that the section was a great one and just wanted a bit more help in his section.

I believe they chose me not because I used to own a 69 mach1 or the fact that I was an S197 moderator. Only because they needed more help here and the site as a whole and I happened to ask at the right time and to my surprise I was chosen. Simple as that. IMO you don't have to be an expert on the Classics or the S197's, SN95's, the fox bodies etc to be a moderator on this site or any site. I will be looking and lurking in the background for SPAM and rule violations (like big fat sigs) and help with member disputes or whatever is asked of me within my power range and if I don't know the answer to anything that is asked I find out for you! I don't like to fight but can hold my own and know the rules if confronted and use power when needed and in an appropriate manner.

I love all mustangs and don't get into that "well the new body style sucks" (regardless what I own). If I have info to help others in posts I will post on that thread if not I may stay silent or do some research and get a straight answer for you... (I love research).

I am usually available any night of the week and on weekends and think of myself as the night moderator/early morning mod..... Hope this clears things up and I hope to make a few more friends and hope all of you cont to enjoy the site and not just the section your car (model) resides in but any section you want to learn more about!

Feel free to PM me anytime and I will get back to you ASAP for any comments, questions, or concerns! Jason mygt500

Edit-
I have had a 69 Mach1, 87 LX 5.0, 93 LX 5.0, and a 89 LX 5.0 and now the S197 06 GT. I have a good general knowledge base on cars and do all my own work when I can on any of the cars I have now or owned in the past. Other then actually painting the stripes and bodykit on the current stang I detail (wet sand and buff for show quality) on the side and have been doing that for the past 17+ yrs. Installed all the suspension components and the short throw shifter, brake pads, oil changes, and can change rotors and pads on most any vehicle like there was no tomorrow (some might ask then why change the rotors and pads?)

I will be making/having made a new sig showing my classic and the new stang. I will not show partiality to any particular model though the S197 resides in the sig at this point.....

There are literally dozens of people that STILL own classics, know plenty about them and are active on the forums regularly. Well know, and well respected. I guess I, and probably several other's are wondering why we didn't promote one of our own, rather than bring in someone none of us know, who will probably spend more time in S197 than here....

Again, sorry for being a dick, but this seems pretty ****in stupid.

Well, I'll go the other way. I welcome anyone who has a classic, has had a classic, or just likes classics. Being a moderator is more about having common sense, being willing to give your time and having the ability to deal with people than it is knowing about a certain type of car.
Welcome Jason. I put a 69 Mach in my newest sig just in your honor.

1. Is this not the largest community of Mustang community bulletin board members on the web? I think it definately is.

2. James, thank you and the Admins for keeping the site well modded, but I'm with Waffles on this. I'm sure mygt500 is a qualified mod and a great guy, but to choose someone to mod a forum when he doesn't even regularly post there, and DOESN"T EVEN CURRENTLY OWN A CLASSIC, is farcical, considering the people who work on these cars DAILY and post here DAILY. And talk with all of us DAILY. I know I just started posting here, but considering that this is a community of real people with real cars, and considering how many regulars post here, this appointment is inappropriate and is disappointing.

Were any regular posters who log in to the Classics forum daily for hours considered? Or was mygt500 the only person who wanted the job?

Nothing personal, mygt500, but I think the mods on a site should be part of the forum, not an outsider. You may think you are one of the classic guys here because you used to own a classic, but you don't and you currently are not. Jeez! They picked a guy who doesn't even hang here. I can't believe no one else who currently hangs here was considered. It's a mod job, not an Admin position.

Whatever. A Mustang site with hundreds of members, and the Classics mod drives a new car and barely posts here. Ridiculous. The rest of this community must be chopped liver.

Modding is a hard job at times and a real responsibility. Good luck, mygt500. Too bad the Admis here don't really consider Classics as important as the new cars which probably make more ad bucks for the site.

Chill out guys. Moderating is basically a cross between a janitor and a referee. Being a subject matter expert is not a prequisite. I post less now than before I was a Mod.

How about giving Jason a try before you condemn him.
