Default Radio Value????

Hi all.

Well I am finally tearing into the interior of my 66 GT fastback to get it ready for the body shop. Some interesting findings. It was San Jose built and originally purchased at S & C Ford in San Francisco. The radio is a OE 8-track AM unit. When I got it out of the car, I noticed some black writing scrawled on the bottom. It mentions S & C and has P/O and some numbers. Just what is the value of this radio? It is stamped FOMOCO on the bottom and has Motorola patent numbers inside the case.

Thanks!

It's worth $5. Tell you what, I'll pay you $20 + shipping :P

(I'm kidding, btw. Working 8-tracks aren't as valuable as AM/FM units, but they're not cheap, last I checked)

If the radio and 8 track are both in working condition, that unit is probably worth several hundred dollars. You can check eBay for comparable sales.

AM/8 track units in '66 are very rare and, as mentioned, worth several hundred dollars. Your car should also have speakers in the front lower section of each door, and no speaker above the radio.
