The copper cleaner will not remove the rust, except for the elbow grease you apply. The easiest way is to use CLR or a similar rust dissolver. Good luck.

You can clean up the chrome to get a nice shine on it but the pits are in the base metal. Use some #0000 steel wool and Brasso don't spare the elbow grease. I had a set of door vent window frames rechromed along with the rear 1/4 window frames $600 smakers and 16 weeks to get them back, but they shine better than new.

The Krud Kutter Must For Rust won't help much here. The pitting is pretty serious. You can clean it up with the Krud Kutter but in the pitted areas the chrome is broken and the rust will return pretty fast, plus it won't look smooth.

Re-chrome it! The part deserves it as it is 250 bucks as you stated!

im thinking sanding and painting silver, but i am worried about having to do all six windows like that when its only the two quarters that are like this, plus i hate to paint over some good chroom on the other side

I dont know where you guys went for quotes, (im in California) but I only paid $225 for both quarter's and 100 for vent window frame and this was 13 months ago when people had more money to throw around. The Re-Pops are a very cheap attempt at the originals.

I BEG the OP do not paint them!!! Your better leaving them how they are. Look around, You should find a place to re chrome all 4 window frames for under 400. If you are in California, PM me and I'll get you the guys info!

Pick up an inexpensive bench grinder and get some polishing pads. You can make those decent.
