You do realize this thing's going to be nearly undriveable without some really short gears, right?

I mean you're basically going to have no power below 2k rpm, and little usable power below 3k. To get the car off the line you're going to need at least 3.73's out back. A TKO would be a good idea at some point to allow you to drive it on the freeway at less than 4500rpm

im thinking about 3.55's since it needs to be on the highway without spinning 5k lol
plus, just riding around town i dont need gobs of power unless i want it

No, but you need to get the rpm's up to make it driveable. My 331 is borderline with 3.25's, and my cam is a lot tamer than that one, AND it has Rhoads lifters to beef up the low-end. I really don't think you'll like driving it with 3.55's.

hmm.. is there a cam i could run that would make it more streetable? i was planning on using the rhoads lifters too... just get the cam, and not the lifters from lunati

i've heard alot of horror stories about the rhoades lifters, i seriously considered using them to help my bottom end but decided against it and ended up advancing my cam 4 deg (which i actually did to help idle vacuum) and i can tell it doesnt pull as hard to the 7k redline like it used to, but it helped on the bottom.

i was talking to him last night and suggested this crane z-series cam (new grinds), very similar to the lunati but a tad smaller. i considered this cam as well when i built my 289

i also think the lunati would work well though.

yeah you would, that may be the right answer for you. 130 or 140 lbs of seat pressure on the springs and you'll be able to wind it a little higher.
