I just did the initail cam break in. My problem is I can't get the motor to idel. timming is at tdc as far as I can tell. Can't really tell with out car ideling. idle screw on carb is maxed out. Anyone got any suggestions?

vac leak.

You can fog unburned propane (from a large propane torch) or carb cleaner around the carb base and intake.. If engine tune changes you found the problem child.

You did check the idle stop screw on the throttle linkage right?

please list the cam that you installed.

Many of the small block ford cams are set up for the 351 firing order. look at the cam specs and it will list the firing order. The car will run with the wrong firing order but it will run crappy and not idle properly

It won't idle at TDC. Turn the idle mixture screws all the way in, then back them out 1 1/2 turns. Turn the idle speed screw all the way out, then back in until the throttle plates just start to move. Advance it to about 10 degrees before TDC (turn the distributor CW), then start the car and fine tune your timing, idle, and mixture.

This a new 570 Holley Street Avenger Carb. I wouldn't think you would really have to adjust the idle mixing screws that much. Suposed to be close right out of the box.
