LED Replacements for 1157 & 1142 bulbs?
Anyone have anything you can share about replacing the 1157 and 1142 bulbs in the front markers and backup lights? 1967 coupe. I'm mostly concerned about the bulb dimensions and fitment in the stock fixtures.

if your talking about the LEDs that fit on the bulb type socket and fit into the receivers on the tail lamps and turn signals...you should avoid them.
The problem with LED's is that they are a narrow wavelength of light much like a laser. Like a laser they are very bright but don't diffuse.
This means you have the tail lights lit up in the center only rather than the whole lens glowing red. IT looks odd and doesn't work very good when viewed from the side.
Avoid them

I installed some in my tail lights and you need more of a reflective surrounding in order to have a "glow" when they light up,In newer cars they use mirrors and much more reflective material to provide the "glow" you want.
