Huh???? How will a wider wheel decrease the tire height??? The height of a tire is not proportionate to the width of the wheel its mounted on.

You are correct. Overall diameter is key. The bigger the rim the thinner the tire, the width is not effected.

What I have learned is that the wider the rim, the wider the section of the tire. Every 1/2" increase or decrease in rim width, gets you +/-.2" in tire width. This is one way to deal with clearance issues.

Just noticed the Magnum 500 17" wheels in the NPD catalog.

17"x8", 4.5"b.s. WOW...$329.95 each plus shipping

The 16s are $293 each...guess I am plenty happy with my 15s!

How about the 17" 03-04 Mach1 rims? They kind of look like Mag500s.

I paid $300 for my set of rims and tires and then another 150 for the spacers and had to change the front tires to a shorter size (235 45's vice 235 55's so that the wheel would turn all the way without hitting the valance edge.) I like them alot.

I also think the 2003 mach 1 wheel is awsome looking on a 69-70 body and the new spoked shelby wheel too.
Where did you get your spacers and can they be had for less $$?
Urban, check these out...
