Default 71-73 Bumper Inserts

I am putting my car back together and when I removed the bumper there were 2 inserts, one on each end. They were black or gray in color and had not been painted. I think this is factory but I am not sure. Am I supposed to paint these bumper fillers or are they supposed to stay black?

No one else has had to install the bumper fillers on the end to the fender? I assume this is not just for the 71-73?

I used '71 bumper brackets instead, and mine were painted body color when I took them off.

Man that looks sweet. I guess I need to have them painted then. I will get the painter to make me a can of spray paint for rubber.

Yeah, I mean the ones that are rubber and screw into the fender at the end of the bumpers.

Fordification I misread your initial post, must have been on the cold meds I was on. I thought your were talking about the rear bumper inserts, not the fronts. on the front inserts mine are just the regular black rubber, the rears were painted.

Thanks. Thats what I thought it should be based on the ones I took off. That saves some painting. 2 more weeks and you guys will see a work of art.
