Default torque converter

I am goign to replace my torque converter because I think its failing. Trying to decide on which one to get. Should I go stock, tci, b&m? Also what should I do for stall speed?

My cars is a 289, 2v, c4, factory gears. Just a bone stock right now. Going to do headers, intake, and carb. When I have the loot.

i would pick up a stocker. If you dont plan on putting heads or cam into the car then stock should be fine..

I say the B&M Holeshot 2000 would be a good choice. It's a good step up from a stock unit, and should match up well with any future engine upgrades.

small step up from stock would be a fantasic choice, but if you think your converter is failing its PROBABLY not the converter - its probably the trans itself..... and your just going to run a bunch of trash into your new converter by not doing everything at once

Agreed....The proper way to choose a converter is with cam (power band) and car weight. A good trans shop can help you with the choice.

Well the transmission was rebuilt in 03 and maybe 5,000 miles are on it. From a bunch of people I talked to it the torque converter. Only when the car is cold it jumps between drive and neutral. Once the car get warmed up everything is fine. You can do shifts from 1-2-d with no slipping. Goose it in drive and no slipping.
