Default Simple paint question.

Well i daily drive my 72 mustang but i am going to be taking it off the road for a while because it is time for a serious restoration. I have a 72 charger with a 440 that i will be driving insted and although the interior is mostly done and the car is mechanicaly sound, it is a mixture of primer and its two previous coats of paint.... i was thinking of just going with a low budget hot rod look (because its a low budget hot rod) and flat blacking it for now. I am not looking to get a great paint job for a while because its costly and i have a few places of body work that needs to get done anyways. If i where to just rattle-can the car, what type of paint should i use? i dont want it to buddle up when i eventually paint over it, so i was originally thinking black primer, but at the same time i want something that will keep away the rust for now... any ideas? i know the car will never be a show room car, but its not ment to be its too fun to drive. i know the question is not about a mustang but any help would be fantastic, thanks guys.

No matter what kind of rattle can paint you apply now, you will need to sand it all off when you are ready for a real paint job. If you are going to do it anyway, use an enamel.

Definitely! While you won't get a great finish, it sounds like you already know that and are just trying to protect the car and have a consistent color. I say go for it!

I seriously thought about it too. Check out this Duplicolor site.

Mopars look great in matte black A quick rattle can enamel job with some light sanding should have it looking fine.
