Default T5 Clutch Cable & Headers

My 65 will soon have a 302 and T5. It has a Modern Driveline clutch cable. I was thinking about going with the Doug Thorley Tri-Y headers. They only mention a few that will work well on their website. The instructions that came with my cable only list these and a pair of hedman headers. I don't want the hedmans because I have seen first hand a few different ones that had defective welds when new or just after being installed.

Does anyone have this setup? If not, does anyone have these headers? If so, do you have any pictures of them installed. How is the access to the spark plugs?

well, I have no experience with Doug's headers, but I did just ditch a set of long tube headman headers for a set of patriot shorties to deal with clutch cable and ground clearance issues.

I recieved emails back from Modern Driveline and Mustangs Unlimited. Modern Driveline says the hedman headers are the best fit. Their website says to go with these. Mustangs Unlimited said to go with Hedmans but didn't say which ones.

According to Summit they are for a 351. I have a 302.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

Which clutch cable do you have? The hedmans interfered with the clutch cable? What number where they?

I never thought selecting headers would be such a pain!

I have Dynomax headers and the cable doesn't clear in my 1966. I'm bummed because they fit, but needed some slight "adjustment" so now I can't return them. I tried the Patriot, which would clear, but they don't fit with my engine (new Boss 347). I'm also back to the drawing board.

well, I have yet to install but I was going based on what was being said over on VMF. I have Headman 88300. I was told that these would clear but that I would have to secure the cable to make sure they do not touch. I have both sets of headers and will be ordering a Modern Driveline cable kit. I will be test fitting both sets but that's at least a month away.

Mustangs Unlimited said to go with these.

If you look up the Hedman 88300 on Summit it doesn't list Mustang as an application it fits.

Modern Driveline suggested these along with the ones listed on their site.

Has anyone heard of them?

These headers seem kind of steep. I emailed them and they said 550 for bare and 750 for ceramic coated. Then 50 to ship them.

I wasn't looking to spend more than 300 or 400 on headers. The headmans are less than 200.

Does anyone know if the Hedman Elite 88308 is the same as the Hedman 88300 except for its ceramic coating? If so, I would prefer to go with them. They are just over 300. The pictures look like they are the same header.

Summit does not list them for Mustang but Hedman does.

88308 is a variation on the 88300 in that it has a thermal coating and thicker flanges.
