Default Update on project 66 Mustang/SVO 2.3 Turbo (pony door panel installation)

Yesterday I started with that I thought would only take a short time, the new pony door panels. But boy was I wrong. I first put on the water shield on the drivers door.

That was the easy part. Here is where it got complicated. Most of the clip hole did not line up with the holes in the door. I adjusted them more times then I could count and after a few hour from the time I started the whole thing it finally hit me. Sometimes it take awhile? Here is the first door.

Now that I shown and told you how "NOT" to do it. I will show you a very easy way on how I did it.
First tape some paper together and make a template of the door panel and place it on the door.

Then mark all the door clip holes on the template.

Take it

and place it over the new pony door panel and mark the clip hole positions.

As you can see alot of the clip hole will have to be oblonged out to get the clip to where the holes are.

Then I took a dermal and adjusted some of the hole to get the clips to line up with the door holes.

After all that I put the water shield on the door

and with the very first try and with no problems what so every. The new pony door panel went right into place.

Then I put the door handle and window crank on and it is done.

Here is the rest of the builds pictures!

Thanks. I'll keep this in mind when I get to the door panel install. Nice.

Where did you get your panels? Mine came from John's Mustang and they lined up perfectly. I assumed there was only one manufacturer and all the vendors were buying the panels from the same place.
I looked through all your pictures. You've brought that car a long ways. Nice work too.

I have the same issues with the side pillar pads at eh windshield area. The clips did not align with the existing holes. Had to fix, what a surprise.

Now these were Pony interior door panels.
But the manufacture of the door panels is TMI Products. http://www.mustangupholstery.com/cla..._products.html
