Default Grant Wheel Install

First off I know now what a POS Grant Wheels are. Had I know then I would never had bought it. Some day I'll splurge on a GT Wheel and sell this POS on E Bay.

Mine like many others is sparking and goes off by itself. Like when I pulled into the car show and everyone thought I was an *** for honking at them.

I bought a new install kit (because I love throwing good money after bad).

On the old unit there were three foam blocks that were taped between the "Contact Plate" and the "Retainer Contactor Ring". The new one does not have these foam pieces. Does any one know if they changed the design? Everything else looks the same. This is the 2ne install kit I bought. I returned the 1st one when I didn't see the foam blocks in the box.

I must be one of the few Grant steering wheel owners that have not had any significant issues with the Grant wheel in my 67 stang. Initially, had issues with horn randomly honking but that was due to the worn contacts on the turn signal assembly. I did a ghetto mod on the contacts by placing metal caps over the contacts (see pic) and haven't had any trouble in over to years. I like the look and feel of the wood Grant wheel with no complaints yet..

Grants just suck period. I had my horn going off when we plugged the battery back up. Also had turn signals stop working and had 1 of the turn signal lights on constantly without the switch on.

I hear you on that...like I said, the turn signal signal appears to get shorted by the grant backing plate if the contacts get to0 worn...therefore, the backing plate will make contact with those 3 rivet connectors on the turn signal assembly (see pic from previous post) causing strange electrical gremlins to act up. That's my best diagnoses of the problems many have from the Grant steering wheel...

I cut those wires and that wasn't smart. We had to solder them back together and put the old wheel back on.
