Pattern looks good but obviously its not, i fogged over the hood and it looks like it cleaned things up but theirs dark and light spots now. am i just chasing my tail? i am using ppg deltron 2000 dbc, clearing with ppg concept 2042
You will need to sand and shoot a new base coat. What you see now will be there forever if you clear coat.
I believe the stripes are coming from when you change your pass direction (left to right then right to left). You are probably not holding the gun at a 90 degree angle to the surface with each pass. Laying down the metallic paint at different angles can make stripes
Adjust the pattern, hold the gun at the same angle for both directions and allow 50% overlap.
Setting up the gun is very important to avoid orange peel (too much fluid) or runs (not enough air pressure or speed). good link: http://www.southernpolyurethanes.com...your%20gun.htm
Make sure you stay within your time windows from the tech sheets. I like to write down the time I start /finish for every coat so there is no chance of getting the times wrong.
Good luck and stay with it!
