Check OE Wheels and see what they have.

You have the wheels now right?

Have you test fit them at all?

7/16 track change can be alot when it comes to fitting tires but you could try popping an old 225 45 17 on the rim for a test fit and see how close you are. You are at the point where exact measurements really are needed.

If you look at my charts here:
http://www.dodgestang.com/emAlbum/al...ide%2065-6.pdf

You will see 2 entries with wilwoods in the 17s. One is using 5.125 backspacing and a 225 without reporting rolled fenders and a soft front spring setup and one is using a standard 4.75 backspacing with a 235 but with rolled fenders and a stiff 620 like I use. So with enough negative camber there is at least one person who has made it work...

ok i see the 17x8 with wilwood and 4.75BS, so at least 1 guy made it work.

will a 17x8 with 5" backspacing fit, or would i have to go with a 17x7 5" BS? i dont mind doing the 7" rim, as long as i can fit a 265 or MAYBE 275 in the rear im good.

or would the 17x7 have a 4.75" backspacing?

or would the 17x7 have a 4.75" backspacing? I don't think that would fit in the front since 4.25 is generally the most you can run in the front in a 17 and even with the extra track from the wilwoods I think it would contact the a arm.
See notes in bold. At this point I would call street or track and buy/rent their wheel rite tool because you have enough mods to the front end to make it difficult to decisively state what will fit without issue one way or the other.

hmm, lets say that i decide to go with ron morris coil over setup, then what would be the ideal sizing? sorry for so many questions, but this seems to be the most confusing part of building a car

Coil over would not impact track width. So as I understand it, whatever track changes you introduced with the wilwoods would still be there.

what does the a-arm drop mean? i have the drilled holes for the shelby drop on my car right now, is that the same thing but designed for the tubular setup?

I would 'assume' that the 'dropped a arm' description on the ron morris page refers to upper a arms that are lower than stock, however, I would make no assumption that they specifically mean the shleby drop. You would have to call them and ask them specifically what then mean by dropped a arms and the measurements because it could very well mean 1.75 lower which is considered by some to be the ultimate drop for performance.

i probably wont go with the coil overs. i think the best thing is to get a 17x7 with 4.75" BS for the front and a 17x8 4.75" BS for the rear. and tires, a 225,235 / 40 / 17 front and 265/40/17 rear.

this sound good?
