Default auto to manual?

i have a 67 coupe with a 351 and want to do some major changes. its going to be a restomod but still look completely stock. im wondering if putting a 5 speed in a mustang with a c4 would be too much work or if i should buy a stang thats already got a standard tranny. somebody told me that the floorboards dont line up but i think there all the same, the hardsest part would be getting the clutch installed and the pedals but im not sure if mounting it would be diffcult or not. feedback would be greatly appreciated thanks!

I heard that it is pretty hard. I wouldn't waste my time with it. Have your C4 rebuilt with a shift kit and let it chirp.

Yea,, i believe it would be a real pain trying to do the swap. Mustangs and fords had a sweet article this month on rebuilding a c6. Not sure about the mustang II suspension. I heard you have to do alot of work to the shock tower area.

You can buy the whole bolt in kit to change an auto to a T-5 for about $3K. If you're a good scrounger you can come up with everything for about half that. You and a budy could do the thing in a weekend, if you've got any mechanical skills.

On the Mustang II front end. Everything I've read, and personal experience, tells me it's not the way to go, unless you really have to remove the towers for engine reasons.

The stock front suspension can be built to really kick booty. Something you want to research before jumping in and spending big bucks.

This is what I have read and heard on the trans.

To change the front end over to the Mustang II you have to CUT out the shock towers and weld in braces. If your welding and cutting are not dead nuts on, you are going to have a terrible time trying to align the car and will loose the handling that you are trying to gain. A good shop with a proper jig is the only way to successfully attempt this one.
