Lightbulb Parts for 331 Stroker

Hey guys,

I was wondering (since I have never rebuilt an engine) what I would need to install a 331 stroker other than new bearings and the crank. Would I need stronger rods? New pistons?
I do know that I will have to get a new flexplate and balancer since the crank has a 50oz balance.

Thanks for the help ahead of time.

A stroker requires all new rotating assembly components. This means crank, rods, and pistons (and all miscellaneous hardware). Depending on the type of rods you use, you may also need to clearance the block. I did, but I have Scat rods that use cap screws rather than traditional style rod bolts.

You can get stroker kits in 28oz imbalance, so there shouldn't be a need for a new flywheel. I would recommend a new balancer, however, as old balancers aren't the greatest of things, and a new Powerforce unit is only like $50, iirc.

Thx for the info guys. The only reason why I was asking is because I can get a new-in-box Scat crank for $150 from a guy on Craigslist. It would just be to tide me over until I drop my 460 in, which I may stroke =D

When all's said and done, you're looking at about $1k for a stroker kit, including balance. $150 for that crank isn't a screaming deal, especially if it's not what you want.
