Ok, thanks you guys. I figured thats what it meant, but it does say 200 bhp in my original shop manual. So i know it's right.

Also remember that the HP at the rear wheels is significant affected by the transmission. I believe that a C6 robs in the neighborhood of 60 HP.

Yeah, I was going to mention that the C4 you have will use more HP than my 3 speed, so while you are getting only 140 or so rear wheel HP, mine will be significantly higher. I have read where mine is around 170.

Ok, when i looked in my service manual it says taxable horsepower for a 289 is 51. Does that mean what it loses through the drive train?

Yep, plus the belts that have to drive the water pump, alternator, etc. Most of that 51 HP is used to drive the tranny and rear end.
