I removed engine and tranny to rebuild heads, valves etc.. and painted entire engine and new gaskets throughout..

Tomorrow will be first time ill be taking her out. My QUESTION is, what things would you guys check or lets say double check not to leave me in the road as i plan to make a nice 45 min trip on the highway. Please add to my list.

1. Checked all bolts to make sure all tight
2. Checked all hoses to make sure tight
3. Checked all fluids to make sure at appropriate levels.
4. Bringing extra oil, tranny fluid, and water with me just in case.

bring good weather and a smile on your face.
leave it running until warm, make sure it's not overheating. drive around the block twice. if all still good go for the drive

 

yeah dont go for the whole 45 min trip at once.

do a 10 min trip first...come back and check everything look for leaks if it all looks okay then check the oil if its not gray then go for you 45 min trip.

Just go for it. You only learn by your miistakes. You have to get it out and let it break if it's going to. You'll be better prepared the next time. The biggest thing is to be prepared to break down...if you don't, great. Just be prepared. You will break it, and some things you just can't fix.........just be happy for the ones you can.

 

Wiring nests.... go through and check everything with a dmm.

 

Bring your AAA card so you can get a tow back.
