personally i wouldnt use etch primer. i would use acid to etch then use epoxy primer afterwards better base imho.

I was thinking of using something along those lines paint wise.

Already took the "before" pictures a few weeks back. Just waiting to get started on this till I can take a couple of days off and saving the rest of the money I'll need for the motor in the mean time.

Also need to find either a friend that will let me borrow a mig or more likely I will probably just buy one if I can find a good used one for sale local. I've been watching Craigs list and asking around on the grape vine.

Honestly, I don't see much reason why I couldn't go ahead and fix the fender apron now and then paint the apron to match when I paint the rest of the bay once the engine is out.

I used a rattle can because I didn't want to pull the engine. If you are going to replace the engine, why not wait until then to weld and paint. It would be soooo much easier with room to work. Someone had sprayed undercoating in the engine bay of my car, which was such a pain to remove.. I wish I had the engine out.
