Default mustang II front in 68?

Hey yall locally i found a guy who has a mustang II hot rod front suspension set up and i was wondering what all is involved in puttin this in my 68, i know the mustang II front is supposed to be a great front suspension so im strongly considering pickin this up to use for my 68 project, what are the pros/cons of doing this and are there any measurements i should have him take to make sure it fits my car?

I would recommend you go to the FAQ section on this forum. That have a ton of stuff on that conversion.

The mustang II suspension is available in a wide range of widths so I would get the measurements from it before you buy it. I dont care for the MII suspension but I'm sure it will handle better than the old worn out stock suspension.

If you can weld you can put it in yourself. The pro is its cheap the cons they don't handle has good as most say they do.You will have to change oil pan and pick up headers and the steering shaft on it.They are a step up from old worn 40 year old bushings and springs. But a good set of coil overs from tcp or global west will handle better.I put one in my friends 68 and a mod motor he was mad my 68 was faster and handled better but i spent more on mine then he did his.

I went through the whole examination of alternate suspension designs for my rebuild of my 70 Fastback. In the end, I opted for a rebuilt stock suspension incorporating the Arning UCA drop. My opinion based on my research and pocketbook is that the best bang for the buck is what I chose. The mustang II suspension has the advantange of more room in the engine compartment, but other than that is of no great benefit as far as I am concerned. With the MII, you would need a rear sump pan and oil pump pickup for your engine as well. The stock setup can be made to perform well by incorporating the UCA drop, roller perches, boxing or aftermarket UCA's, adjustable strut rods, etc. All of which can be incorporated piecemeal. There is a lot of info at the link below on mods for the stock suspension.
