Talk to me about your Headman experience?

Did you buy their "Elite" series or stick with the budget series? The Elite series is one of the best made headers I have ever seen and used so im really curious on why Headmans are getting thrown under the bus.

Pertronix now also owns JBA also FYI.. The buyout took place last fall during my header purchase which caused a delay/mixup. Seems I got one of the last sets before everything got moved to the new location.

The Hedmans I got for the truck were there their shorties that were direct replacement for the stock manifolds. The quality was crap. The welds were lousy with slag spatter everywhere and there were pinholes in the welds. My friend has the same headers on his truck right now and they leak due to the same issue with the welds. I just decided that my DD F150 didn't need headers right now. I might put some on later if I ever upgrade the stock engine.

I have heard that alot of people like the coated Hedman Elite. I was thinking about the ones that Fakesnakes has if I can't get mine to fit.

I am probably going to go with the RMP adjustable mounts. Did you get stock height ones or lowered ones. I believe that I will have to use stock height ones. It appears that the lowered ones are for 351 swaps.

I am going to take the same measurements from my rear valve cover bolt to compare to yours. Did you measure from the center of that bolt, accross it, or from the outer edge.

Is your T5 pushed as far back as the mount will allow it to be?

I got the stock height ('66) ones.

My measurements were from center of bolt head.

IIRC, I actually slotted my T5 mount (Modern driveline) just a bit to get the tranny shifter to fit perfectly in the center of the tunnel opening. Works perfect.

I got my RMP stock height motor mounts installed. They arrived on Friday. They are really nice peices. The headers and H pipe etc are all now installed and fit well.

My clearances look just like GotHand's picture now.

Awesome, glad to hear it. Sucks to deal with the extra headache, but at least you have quality headers and you'll never have to worry about a busted mount since they are captured in double shear.

Thanks,

Yeah, I am glad it is all done now. Those RMP mounts do look like they are pretty well made.

I have to finish the rest of the exhaust now.

How tight did you torque your side to side bolts or the bolts throught the bushing? RMP's instructions said 50 lbs. A bolt that size and grade can be torqued to 75-78 lbs. I was wondering if they should be a bit tighter. Like maybe 60 lbs or so.
