Default Tachometer

I was going to install an after market tach tomorrow onto the steering column. My car doesnt have a stock tach (68 coupe) Is there any tutorial anywhere or a video or even wiring diagram of where i have to connect the wires?

If you know the manufacturer, look them up. They all probably have a pdf manual on how to hook it up. If not, rst is right single wire to neg. Mine has red to 12v on with the key, black to ground, white to lights and green to neg side of coil.

Good luck.

The negative post thing works if you are still running points. If you have switched to electronic ignition like MSD, you need a tach converter in between the coil and the tach.

you probably dont want to open your cluster up unless you want the wires running out of it. I just ran my wires down my steering column and wrapped them in black coating to match the dash. It took about 20 minutes to hook up.

We don't need no steenking points!
The negative post thing works well with the Pertronics points eliminator kit too.
I went with a black mini-tach attached to the steering column and it almost looks stock.
No "dash opening" just blue to coil, red to 12v relay, white lights, and black ground.

btw, make sure you test it outside of the car to make sure it works before running all your wires, ect.
