Find the problem :-)
Ok Guys,
Here's a picture of my 289ci V8 engine (I know I know ... It needs a lot of work ...)
I added 2 numbers, can you guys give me the name the function of these 2 items.
Also, if you see any other abnormal things ... Let me know...
Here's the link to the picture (you can also check out http://www.doggrell.be for other pictures of my stang)
Problems
Ok, Number 2 goes to the Transmission modular. I dont know exactly what it does though. Number 1 might be the fuel valve, I have a 66 mustang with a 2V, but mine doesn't look like yours. Oh yeah, Just in case you dont know, That disconnected hose that comes from your valve cover connects at the base of the carburator at the rear. Good luck, If you have any more questions just ask.

By the way ? The carb on my car differs from the one you have ? Whats so different about it then ? I always thought mine was an original.
Are my eyes deceiving me, or is there a hose running from the top radiator hose into the oil filler cap?
Also, what year 289 is that engine? That is really one weird hook up for a 289. My oil filler cap is just a breather, not hooked up to anything. And if it were, it would be hooked up to the back of the carb. But, that didn't happen until a few years later. Here is a pic of my 289 in my 65. See any differences? http://pic10.picturetrail.com/VOL326...6/23242480.jpg

But since i need to clean my engine i removed the air filter so i could reach more parts. So what you are seeing is a loose hose on one and that is touching the hose coming from my radiator.
ok here i go, these are the differences i see
1) Is your engine a HI-PO engine ?
2) What is that big black box to the right of your radiator hose ? (I dont have it)
3) What is that white reservoir on the right of the picture (I dont have it)
4) The location of your "bobine" (the part that is connected to the middle cable of your distributor) is different than mine. Mine is laying to the left of my carb, whilst your is in a vertical position in front of your valve covers.
How can i tell what year my engine is from ? It's a 1966 Ford Mustang Coupe so i am guessing its a engine built in 1966 ... ?

You have nice project engine. It seems that your ignition coil is located on the intake manifold and I hope that it is bolted with intake bolt. Usually coil is located front of the engine and bolted front of the cylider head. In my ´68 coil is at drivers side cylider head and this car is w/o a/c. Picture withc "Soaring" did send coil was located other side but in his car a/c compresor is at driver side so there is no room enough for coil.
Is your car from California? Those two disconected hoses if they went to air cleaner they might be some emision hoses? If you deside to use open HIPO air cleaner why you don´t use road draft tube insted of installing breather tube to air cleaner? If where ever you live it legal to make old style road draft tube why you should feed to your engine it own waste air? Ford used this road draft tube many cars in 1960´s befor emision control.
Part #1 I have seen in many carbs and it is called vent valve. You may find picture of it from http://www.holley.com/HiOctn/TechSer...fo/2300C1.html . It is part #33.
And last but not least: you have leaking carb and ignition coil right next to it. Be careful that you wont burn your Mustang.

Ok, the Hose coming from the valve cover should be going into the base of the carb. At least thats where mine goes too. Im glad you told Soaring what that other hose coming off the oil cap was, i was getting scared just looking at it.

That black box to the right of my rad hose is my air conditioner compressor. My coil is on the left side front because of the compressor being in the way for it to fit on the right. You can decode your engine by taking out the starter and get the casting date from the block which is behind the starter. Yeah, your's must be a California set-up because of the oil cap emissions thing.
