Default Rag joint question...

I'm trying to replace the rag joint in my 68. I've searched the forum and looked all over the internet and can't seem to find any easy instructions on how to replace this. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks everyone!

Unbolt it and put the new one in. I don't think there is anything to difficult about it. Should be straight forward.

There are 2 bolts from the rag joint to the steering gearbox, and 2 bolts from the rag join to the steering column shaft. You should be able to remove the bolts and flex the old rag joint out and install the new one in the reverse order.

I got the rag joint off the sterring box but the problem is how do I get the rubber piece off the metal bracket that bolts to the sterring box. It looks like it's permanantly fixed on the bracket. I'll try and get some photos uploaded if this doens't make sense.

Now that I think about it more, there are 2 pins on the gearbox that have to be drilled out if it has never been changed. You are going to have to take the bolts out that hold the steering column in and pull the column back to get to them. There are I think 6 bolts under the dash and some more by the firewall that hold the column in. Remove them and pull the column back into the passenger compartment enough to get the coupler that is mounted to the steering gearbox shaft off. Here is a picture. You can take the pinch bolts off and remove the whole rag joint assembly and do the work on the workbench. Then just reinstall.
