im getting the whole kit at once, the rear dosent affect header clearance but my mufflers arent far behind. technically since the headers are behind the wheels they are affected by rear spring height

the real question is how how much does the car travel/approach angle.

if mid eye dosent work i suppose i cold swap with someone or sell them or put a 1 inch block in.

They shouldn't be affected any more than a fraction of an inch. If your mufflers hang down low enough to scrape, you need to slap your muffler tech for doing a crappy job. You should be able to tuck them up pretty close to the body without any problems.

Do you mean you're getting the front coils with the rear kit? What kit are you looking at, exactly?

mustang plus grab a track. front, rear and shocks, plus the sway bar.

haha i am the muffler tech. im tucking the mufflers as we speak. i already finished the driver side. i had about 5 inches of room, now i have 7 inches to play with.

it should be noted that my cars rear springs are the worst. they probably sag a good 2 inches.

LOL

Mid-eyes will probably bring the *** end up. It did on my car.

What front springs are you looking at? Also, does the kit come with perches and upper insulators?

I usually prefer to buy things separate. Roller perches are infinitely better than rubber-bushed perches, and the poly opper coil spring insulators M+ likes to sell are very prone to squeaks.

You should also dop the Shelby drop while you have things apart. It's essentially free, and it'll make more of a difference to your car's handling than anything else you're doing.

i havent looked into the shelby drop. and i havent looked at the insulators. i think the front springs are the 620 . i dont know if im going to go with the 1 inch drop or stock height. 620 is going to be super hard, but im used to it because my jeep right now is at that rate if not more.

it seems like i will end up with more cash than i thought and if so i think i have some learning to do. im thinking about replacing all the steering components as well. if i am, i might as well as replace or look into the control arms and what ever i wasnt planning on touching.

Your jeep sits taller and therefore has more leverage on the springs, so 620's make sense on that. They're going to be very stiff on the Mustang. Also, if you decide they sit too high (which is common), you're not going to want to cut them as cutting springs also increases spring rate. But then, if this isn't a daily driver car, you may not care about a harsh ride. I have 1" drop 540's on my car and I'm happy with them, and I drive my car very hard. I also have a little room to cut the springs if I want to drop the front end down a bit more.

Shoot Day @ DazeCars an email request for the Shelby drop template and drill bit. The UCA drop will improve your steering geometry to keep the tires flatter while cornering. It also lowers the roll center of the vehicle below ground level, which helps keep the car more level while cornering.

While you're at it, ask him to fab you up a pair of roller perches. I'm very happy with the pair he made for me. They remove the stock bushing bind problem, allowing the coil springs to do their job and absorb all of the road shocks. Basically, they make for a smoother, more responsive ride. They also keep you from breaking shocks during hard driving (which I've done).

Replace your worn out upper coil insulators with good rubber units. Lube them up with moly grease before you install them to keep everything from squeaking.

1" drop 620's with roller perches will probably be ok for you, then.

I actually have less problems scraping headers with my stiffer drop springs than I did with my stock springs. The spongy stock springs sat higher at rest, but they allowed way too much compression coming off of a speed bump or steep hill, so the headers would come crashing down into the speed bump or pavement.

I know I will be at odds with A LOT of people on here, but so what...

I can not imagine anyone wanting to DROP the REAR of a Classic Mustang a single fraction of an inch...

I can see dropping the front... but I have NEVER been a fan of the going up hill look...

JMD, I'm very happy with my 1" drop springs. They actually raised the rear of the car about 3/4" from the height they were at with sagged 1" drop springs. With my 1" drop fronts and the Shelby drop, the car sits pretty much level.
