OK, I still fought it for about 15 minutes until I took a real close look at your pictures, then I figured out that I had the springs backward. I almost decided that if it was that tough, I'd wait until I had made a new bottom and done the A/C mods. But, when you have the springs oriented correctly, it actually goes pretty smoothly.
