Squealers are littlee metal clips that let you know your pads are worn by rubbing on the rotor and squealing before you run out of pad. If they are only a year old, I can't see them worn that much though.

A vibration in the pads usually causes squeals while braking. Is it a connstant squeal or does it pulse. For a pulse I might think a dry u joint. Intermittant, I'd look at suspension. A constant noise, I'd look at something in the wheel.

This will sound dumb but, how about a....rock. I had one at work a while back the the driver left on the road because it made a squeal. When I went to put it on the wrecker, it was pretty loud, so I pulled the wheel to take a look. When I pulled the wheel, I heard something hit the ground (a rock). Put the wheel back on and all was good. Jack it up and spin the wheels and see if you can hear it then.

asked a friend to listen in. will take off the wheel just to be sure. Will hopefully find the problem tonight. Girlfriend is likeing the car now, but whenever it makes noises I cannot explain she gets unconmfortable because there might be something falling off.

I know, it's not what I'd want to do, but I trust other people to identify the noise even less. Besides, if you can keep up on a bike, they won't be going fast enough to enjoy it.

I think the "squealers" he's talking about are the metal wear tags that will drag on the rotor if the pads get too thin. Considering how few miles you probably have since the brake swap, I doubt that's your issue. But like said, if it goes away when you hit the brakes, it indicates either brake or wheel bearing. Are you sure you got the bearings torqued correctly?

Is your master cylinder and/or proportioning/combination valve made for DRUM BRAKES? Either 4 wheel or rear drum?

If so, these may incorporate a RESIDUAL PRESSURE VALVE that will maintain about 10 pounds of pressure when the pedal IS NOT applied.

This is to improve the response time and feel of drum brake systems, but the pressure is too high for disk brakes which like about 3 pounds of residual pressure instead of 8.

Some master cylinders have the valve incorporated into either one or both "out port(s)".

Some systems incorporate the RPV in the proportion/combination valve.

It seems possible that an increased pressure might cause the brake pads to drag a little and make a "tone" or hum...

We found it :-)
i had one fella at left of car, one on right. i drove very slow and thankfully it screamed (more silent) even with engine off. one said it's on the left, the other said it's on the right but both said from behind the engine and down.
So I had one standing in the pit and rolled over him and he identified it then. thanks be to god buddy has a pit.
It was the rubber dust cover at back of transmission rubbing against the slip yoke. it was dry there. I rubbed it with axle grease and since the problem is gone ... yipieee!!! i would have never thought of that, especially since it didn't change tune at speed.

Thanks all for the ideas though!
