Default Pro Systems

Does anyone have experience with Pro Systems custom carburetors? I find their company, packages, and modifications interesting and wonder how good they are.

Most of the professionals that are racing with carbs and winning, are runnning Pro Systems. I've heard of street rod guys complaining about it not running right, but I wonder how much of that is related to not being 100% honest about their setup when they have the carb spec'd out. And everyone I met with probelms never bothered to call and get them sorted. They set up a lot of carburetors for alot of people and know what they're doing.

Excellent. Do you have one? Do you know if the metering blocks have adjustable emulsion and IFR? They are talking about a small venturi, large throttle plate, 830cfm carb for my setup. They say it will not need off more than 2 jet sizes and air bleeds, etc should be dead on. Very interesting and very affordable compared to other performance carbs and they get you very close to on target based on flow data and experience. I am having good luck with my 4150HP but not without its quirks. They talk bad about the stock HPs and make a good point for running a custom carb vs. a Holley HP carb.

You mention not running right on the street. I wonder if they speced out their engine correctly as you said and also if they know enough to tweak the jetting and idle for weather changes. As you know, there is a big difference between a carb being tuned correctly for WOT and one that is good through the whole power band and entire throttle opening range. For that reason, I asked Pro Systems what would be best for a street rod/amateur race car (Pro 4160 drag carb or the street race carb). Honestly, I do not know the difference at this point.

I'm running a Quick Fuel. The thing with Pro Systems though is they set up the carb for your car, so when you get it, it should already be really close or right on. If you're not honest about what you have under the hood and how much the car weighs, then it'll be farther off.

I have one with 50 miles on it for sale, a 950hp. Paid 750.00 will sell for 650.00 made for a 408.

I found that my mighty demon 750 annular runs better, I'm one of those street guys.....I can assure you I gave every spec to the last detail of my eng, I had head flow bench#'s, CI custom cam specs, bluprint specs on shortblock. In my case ran great WOT but way rich at idle and turned my plugs black. I have had bad luck with holleys and I've ran quite a few, I'd call BG and see what they recommend. For some reason My mighty demon cold starts easier, idles better and cleaner, way better throttle response, as much if not more power at WOT and that was out of the box, it has removable air bleeds and all the features of the prosystems and the biggest thing I bought it remanufactured off ebay for about 325.00 less than the PS. I have bought 3 remans so far and each one ran perfect, I recently installed a WB A/F meter and it is almost perfect, I'm temped to bolt the PS back on and see what it says.

Frankly I hate carbs, I will be buying the FAST EZ-EFI and getting rid of both of my carbs.

Sounds like it just needed different IFR's and/or idle air bleeds.

Carbs work great once they're set up right. The trick is getting them set up right.

I do like the new EZ-EFI though, some of the advantages of a carb, being a TBI type setup, but so much easier to set up and get it to run the way you want.
