Default Fuel Sending Unit??

well, the sending unit crapped out again, same gromet everytime, seems like the gas warps it which causes it to leake.

Got a new one to replace it and now Im having trouple with it leaking around the gasket/ring, have drained the tank and resituated the o-ring gasket 3 times now with no luck.

Can I use some sort of gasket forming sealant around the tank/sending unit? Will that work to help seal the pieces together and stop the leake?

anyone have suggestions??

Thanks

I thought my brand new one was leaking and ended up draining the tank three times before I discovered it was actually leaking around the threads of the sender connector. It was extremely hard to tell, but once I tried another unit it never leaked again. Make sure it is actually the gasket.

I had the EXACT same issue with a 2 year old sending unit. Never leaked before, but about 3 weeks ago, I starting seeing drops on my 01 GT parked below. After scratching my head for awhile, it turned out it was leaking around those threads. A little tightening on the nut, and it hasn't leaked since.

the 66 doesnt have threads on it, the sending unit pushes up against the tank with an o ring/gasket in between and they are pressed in by a locking ring which you twist on to its stop, seems like im not getting a good seal from the o ring, the locking ring goes on snug so i dont know what else to try........

Most sensors have the locking ring and seal. He's talking about the threaded electrical connection, which most sensors, and possibly yours, have.

finally got the leake fixed, ordered a new unit from CJ's, has a thicker gromet on it so hopefully that will prevent the issue Ive had with the NPD version, also, clamed down on the "ears" that hold the locking ring on the tank, that seemed to help hold it nice and snug, no leake.......for now : )
