Default Transmission problems

Well the other day I noticed something weird with my transmission and I think it might be the transmission linkage. When I put the car in Park it is still in reverse and drive is neutral so I have to go down to either 1 or 2. But I have to shift it into park about 3-4 times before it will actually go into park instead of reverse. If it is the transmission linkage about how much would that cost to have fixed?
Thanks

Almost certainly you need to adjust the linkage. You may need a new bushing at the bottom of the shifter where the rod attaches, and if the shifter lever is loose you'll need bushings in there. Unless something unusual is going on, you can get out of this for about $10 in parts.

All it takes is a 1/2" wrench...... Don't spend the money. Under the car is a rod that connects the shifter to the trans and is locked in place with a 1/2" nut. After lifting the car and PUTTING JACK STANDS (safety first!!) loosen the nut in park and move the trans lever to lock it in and the tighten and check. Really easy!!!! Be safe.

67-68 shifters had a huge hole at the bottom of the shifter for a big rubber grommet. If this bad boy has rotted, adjusting won't help. They are available new, cheap, about $3.

Well now the car is just stuck in park. Decided to try and drive it somewhere yesterday and it went great and even went into park. But while leaving wouldn't shift out of park so it had to be towed home. Well I crawled under it today and the linkage appears to be fine but still not sure so I have pictures.

That linkage right there is still working and moving like it should.

This is the problem I found I followed the linkage and noticed the yellow bearing would move but the piece held on by the bolt won't move and the bolt isn't loose or anything. So since that doesn't move neither does the spring or cable attached to it.

Any ideas whats going on or how to fix this? Anything will help I just need to be able to fix it at the house because another $86.00 towing doesn't sound too good right now.

Also just for added information when the car is started when shifting into any gear even 1 or 2 the car is still in park.
