I have a 70 coupe, and I hate the trim that was on the rear window. I did some looking around and saw that the 69 Grandes had a sweet trim package. Do any of you 69 Grande owners know if this trim is reproduced? I know that it was one year only so it makes me think that it wasn't but you never know.

 

Actually, all 70's, even the Grandé, had the rear window trim you dislike. All 69's, Grandé and otherwise, had the rear window trim you like, even those without vinyl top. They are not reproduced, but can be found used.

 

The trim doesnt fit the 70 model though.. You have a flush mounted trim.. Ours had a kind of trim bevel in the body around the window that it fit into..

 

69 and 70 are indeed different. I've seen them chromed, but it looks weird. Stock trim is flat black.

I covered my trim in vinyl to match my vinyl roof. I suppose you could paint it body color as an option, and no one would know or care except Mustang purists who hang out here.

Booger, do you think you could send me some pictures of what you mean? With any luck I may be able to fabricate something that may work. The more detail the pics the better, I would appreciate it very much.

 

I wish I would have seen your post yesterday evening before I put them back on.. I had to pull out my rear window to put in my headliner and had everything off the car. Let me get some pics of it tonight and see what I can do.

 

Plus, the repro trim is super soft, recycled coors cans. Try and use the original garb if possible.

 

I had a pain in the **** with mine too.
It is still not on correctly most of the clips are on, But the trim had to be constantly re-adjusted and bent just to fit correctly,Mine stock was chromed with a flat black strip in the center.
You can see it in the video it's all chrome with a black center strip.
