Default what do i need to change with hi power alt

i need to get a new alt and i have electric fans on radiator and one on the trans cooler and when the temp of the car is high it is hard to start. it may be some with the timming but i think that some is that i am always running my battery down. i want to get around a 100a alt and wanted to know if i need to change the regulator on anything else.

Here's some information on upgrading your alternator.

I put a PowerMaster 1-wire 100 amp alternator on mine not long after installing my electric fan. You basically unplug and remove the regulator completely. I bought one basically just like this one:

Mine didn't come with the upgraded wire to connect between the alternator and the starter solenoid. This is a great upgrade. The main thing with the internally regulated is you have to give it a quick rev to set the internal regulator to charge (otherwise it isn't putting out any power). I haven't had a charging problem with my car since I installed this one like 4-5 years ago.

Similar, but the one-wire setup literally has the one heavy wire (the red one) running from the back of the alternator to the starter soleniod. My alternator didn't come with the wire. I bought a separate installation kit for $20 which was for a high power alternator (think it is like a 4 or 6 gauge wire).

Mine doesn't have the other 3 wires that are shown on the "ASI" plug. On mine I unplugged the stock regulator and took all that extra wiring that runs across the front radiator support off.
