What do you guys think of this '71?
I've been in the market for a Fastback for a little while now and came across this '71 on CL...
http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/1216080728.html
What do you all think about it? I emailed the owner and he says hes owned it less than a year (that always concerns me). Cars got a 302 4bbl Auto w/ 9" rear end. Interior is okay at best and glass is all good. Rust is forming in the rear half of the car. Not rotted just rusty. Is $3500 to much for a standard '71 Fastback project? Any info helps....
Thanks

check out the cowl and inside the trunk and tail light panel etc they are common rust spots.
if the cowl is bad then the front floors are probably gone too.
the grill is missing and ona 71-72 stang thats expensive to replace

It has less rust than my 71. Of course that isnt difficult to find.
Its a bit high IMHO, but then I wouldnt spend a bunch for one of the big Mustangs with only a 302 in it. If it is rust free and doesnt need a bunch of metal replaced, then its a good place to start. Maybe I am stuck in the 80s but to me that is a $1500 -$2500 car. Hard to tell from just two pics, I would have to dig in a bit and look around. Things like disc brakes would add to how much I would pay for it, and of course less rust than mine.
I have over $3k in sheetmetal for mine, so if I had paid $3500 for it, by the time I had it done I would be very upside down in it. So it really depends on the rust and what else it has. Engine swaps are easy, welding, body work, and paint, not so much.
I like that one and if I had some cash I would call on it, but I woudnt give him asking price for it.
