Question Lower Ball Joint Replacement

Other than the obvious, is there anything I need to be aware of when doing this?

i thought the lowers weren't replaceable? you have to buy the whole lower control arm.

+1 on buying the entire lower control arm (at least on the 65-66)

I am with them. I think you just buy new control arms.

OK. Book calls them lower ball joints, but some call them tie rod ends. They have one end that screws into a threaded sleeve, a ball joint on the other end that screws into an arm.

Steering end links or tie rod ends, the lower ball joint is on the control arm and attaches to the spindle. You're gonna need a ball joint separator, the u shaped ones with the threaded stud work 10x better than the pickle forks.

You are talking about this right? Just want to clarify since there was some confusion.

If so it messes with your toe of the alignment so make sure it is put in almost exactly the same. Might mark on the sleeve how far in it is and then when you screw in the new one make sure it is on that mark or as close as you can get it.

That's it. I just finished putting them on. The rubber grease boot doesn't look like it's going to stay on the bottom part once the steering moves around but I'll have to check them after I drive. If the rubber boot comes off from the bottom piece how can I fix it so it won't come loose? Does that mean I screwed up?
