Default new guy from tx

whats going guys my name is eddie and im from houston tx and i own a 65 mustang. i been having my car for sometime now, and the first thing i did was take it to the valley to my uncles shop so he could do some engine work on it, since all i wanted for now was for it to start. well it did, on our way back from the valley we had the mustang on a 2wheel dollie and well not even half way here the car fell off the dollie when doing a slow turn and hit a parked 18wheeler. it didnt do much damage but the car wouldnt start anymore, so i gave up. I need something new and fast so i went ahead and purchased a 2001 ford lightning which is an awsome truck!!!. well i was saving money to add a bigger block with a bigger supercharger or go turbo. so i said screw it, ill put the lightning on hold for now and work on my stang, and do it right this time.... but here is the thing where do i start????? should i start on the body work and inside and leave the motor till the end???? what do u guys think. by the way here are some pics of my lightning, i will post some of the mustang later

Do all structural work first.
Then mechanical.
Then body.
Then interior.

I'd start with the body and put it up on a rotisserie. If you start with the mechanical it's all in your way when you go to do the engine compartment ect. unless you pull everything back apart and then you're doing the same work twice.

I agree with 2+2. If you do the body and paint before the mechanical you have to be a lot more careful or you risk scratching or denting the car. The engine compartment can be done separately.

I didn't suggest painting the car first, its a lot easier to do all the body restoration without the engine and drive train in the way. I wasn't referring to "body work" as in getting ready for paint. Its a lot easier to clean up and repair the underside of a car on a rotisserie. Although I would still probably paint the engine compartment before I dropped it in. You can always tell when stuff has bee taped off.

Got it. Yeah it would definitely be easier to do any work underneath or in the engine compartment before the drivetrain goes in. And I agree, paint the engine compartment before the motor goes in.

lol u should get one... its an awsome truck to drive...

thanks guys for the help... ill try to get some pics of the stang soon so u guys can see in what kind of shape it really is....

I would, but I'm only 17, insurance would be crazy high, and I can't afford one right now.
