So you guys are saying I can't buy a Blaster 2 and hook it straight up the way my stock one is? I have to give it a different power source?

The Blaster 2 is designed for a 12V feed. The stock wiring only supplies ~8V to keep from burning up points. It's a simple matter of bypassing the stock resistor wire under the dash.

69's don't have resistor wires correct? I had my whole dash apart and never saw one I don't think.

With that said I forget how I hooked up my coil, I believe i just used the stock hookup with my pertronics flamethrower 2 (I think)

Coils are kinda like light bulbs in one way: they can burn out in less time than their expected lifetime for no reason, or they can last for many years longer than they are supposed to. It was a sad day in 1997 when the original yellow top factory coil on my 302 died, after working for 28 years.

Sorry, no brand to suggest, just my coil story.

Like my Grandad used to say, "most fishing lures are designed to catch- fishermen." Coils are like that.

My 289HP still runs on the C5OF-E dual-point distributor and yellow top coil. Not the original, that went bad in the 80's. Since I was stuck, I pulled an original yellow-top off a 200 six on the junkpile. Still works great.

Mickey Thompson had a Thunderbolt, but instead of the normal 427, it had a modified pair of Chrysler Hemi heads. Even though all sorts of exotic ignition was available then (magneto, transistor, etc.), guess what ignition it ran on?

67mustang302 brings up a very good point. SBF's run "HOT" anyways and there is a lot of heat build up in these engine compartments. With that said, I placed my coil off to the side on the driver side inner fender apron.

I think I still have an original yellow top O.o

But the whole reason I am asking this question is because the repair manual suggestions the primary resistance (between the two nipples) be 1.40-1.54 ohms and I am getting like 2.75 ohms

Sorry just trying to clarify, are there any coils: Accel, Mallory, Pertronix, or MSD that will hook up the stock ~8 volt system and work well with my MSD 6A?
