doesn't your MSD 6A demand 12V ?????
go measure, maybe you have already 12V+ on coil. with ignition switch in "on" position measure voltage "coil+" against "battery-"

don't know the MSD boxes. there's a chance the ignition wire goes straight to the box and another cable from box to coil. If that's the case measure what voltage the box is getting from your switch ...

Well I don't have the MSD 6A yet, so that's probably why lol

Is there some other way to test the voltage? I'm not really interested in turning the switch to ON when I'm without a head, coolant, or oil.

Ok, so is the MSD 6A going to be connected straight to the 12V battery, then I connect the 6A to the coil, which gives the coil 12 volts also?

I'm pretty confused I guess. Do I have to bypass the resistor to use the MSD ignition box?

Ask this on fordsix, they will be able to tell you how to wire it.

No, you don't have to bypass the resistor wire with a 6A.

As you stated correctly: the 6A receives 12 volts directly from the battery, and the 6A energizes the coil (when triggered, of course).

Edit: Actually, nevermind. I don't think I'll replace the coil when its not broken.
