Default Oil coming out of the right exhasut pipe!!!

I Have a 68 fastback mustang that me and my father have fixed alot on but know we are dumbstruck. Oil Is coming out of the right exhaust pipe and we don't know what the problem is, we have considered that it is just carbon build up but its only coming out one side of the engine and we did get it to stop for a while till about a week ago. the Stang did sit in a garage for about 20 years. We just don't know what to fix.

So you're sure its oil and not just water with some carbon mixed in?

Its not likely that oil is getting through the exhaust unburned especially thick enough to drip out.

Do you have good compression in all cylinders?

I agree with Gun Jam. I suppose it could also be fuel. A friend of mine has a 66 F100 with a 460 and for a while it ran way too rich and sometimes gas would make its way to the tailpipe.

if oil would flow out the exhaust it would be so much you'd be out of oil by now.
i'd say as well it's water with carbon. it's pitch black, makes **** out of your driveway and is perfectly normal.

check what is coming out exactly. oil is very easy to spot

Also if the spots on the driveway from it are dry and black then it is just carbon and moisture. If its oil it wouldn't dry.

Hey thanks guys, I have always wondered if the little black specks behind my tailpipe were carbon/water or a little oil. Being that they're dry and black, they must be carbon/water.

You will have more carbon and moisture from short trips. If you drive the car for several miles and get it up to operating temp for 15-20 minutes you won't have as much of it.

I had oil come from my tailpipes earlier this summer. It will leave a film on the rear of the car if it is oil. It will also drip from the tail pipes when it sits because oil does not evaporate. Mine came from cracking 8 or so rockers and having terrible combustion in those cylinders.

My guess is you are running a little rich or your timing is a little too retarded which is allowing for unburnt of still burning fuel to enter the tail pipe. If it is just one side, then that is curious.

Have you check your plugs for an obvious ignition problem like a fouled plug or bad plug wire? Have you done a compression or leak down test on the cylinders to see if you have bad compression on a cylinder or two?
