Default New guy intro

Yo guys, I've been around here for awhile but I've never posted. Figured I'd introduce myself and my car.
Names Eric and I've had the car for five years. I'm the fourth owner. When I got it there was a 72 302 in place of the original 289. The one day I was out driving it, the oil pump went out and the 72 motor turned itself into a boat anchor. I've been doing as much as I can to it while still being a full time college student.

Here she is in her current condition.

1966 2+2 fastback
nightmist blue
c4 auto
American racing torque thrust wheels

87 GT 5.0 roller block with complete rebuild
Trick Flow stage one cam
New dual timing chain and gear
Cran's 1:6 Roller Rockers
Edelbrock Air-Gap intake
Edelbrock 500cc 4 barrel carb
Tri-Y headers
Rebuild 93 GT-40 heads
8mm wires
Flowmaster exhaust 40 series
Aluminum Cobra air cleaner
3" tall Cobra valve covers
3 core radiator
Moroso front sump oil pan

c4 automatic rebuilt with shift kit

CSRP front disk brake converstion
dual master cyclinder
power brakes

complete front suspension rebuild
shelby export brace
monte carlo bar

I'd really like to turn her into a gt350r clone. One step at a time.

I'm currently working on getting a 9" set up together. I have a posi unit with 3.50 gears all ready to go but I'm having trouble finding a housing. Also waiting on a pair of Raydot side mirrors that I've ordered.

Let me know what you think! Really like seeing all your cars and this forum has been a wealth of knowledge for me.

Welcome to the forums. That looks fantasic. If your looking for a 9 inch rear axle housing look for a late 70s Versailles or a 50s Ford sedan. They will fit the early Stangs.

Looks like a good list of upgrades. Does it have subrame connectors yet? It needs an AOD.

Please don't turn it into a clone. Everyone seems to be doing that or the Eleanor or lemans stripes. It looks great as is. You could alway add GT fog lights or something like maybe a Shelby hood. Do something subtle and keep it clean.

Here is mine. I haven't made a signature yet. I guess I need to make one.

I've found a good deal on a complete 9" rear but I'm really confused on the correct length that I need. I've always thought it needs to be 57 1/4" but this guy is saying thats wrong and the correct length is 58 1/2"
Which is correct?

Take a look at this. Its a list of different rear end measurements.

It says

65-66 Mustang = 57.25 inches
77-81 Versailles = 58.50 inches
1957-64 Ford = 57.25 inches

It lists more.

http://www.woodyg.com/fairlane/finfo/fordrears.html

The main thing is to make sure that its close to the same width and that the spring perches are in the exact same position from center to center.

I have the Versailles in mine and the 1/2 inch wider on either side doesn't even really show. I don't think it is noticable at all.
