Default Brake Master Cylinder Question

I want to swap out my original single reservoir to a dual reservoir master cylinder. I have a 66 mustang with an inline 6, not sure that matters. What year could I use to bolt right in or with little modifications? Any help is appreciated. Thanks again everyone.

I have the same a 65 inline six, converting to a 5.0. I read that you could use a fox mc, not sure how much work it is since I still have mine waiting to finish the motor swap before starting with the mc. When I get home I'll post more info, have pages saved to my comp.

I used a MC like the 67 Mustangs had.

If you are going to go upgrade the brake system why not upgrade the front to disc and do a Granada or similar swap.

I have seen people use the Fox style MC too. I think fakesnakes has one.

Thanks tx65coupe and guybored. Looks like it might be an easy swap.

I'm eventually going to upgrade to the front disc brakes from here

Until then, I wanted to give the current brakes a little bit of an upgrade. Thanks again you guys.

cj pony has a kit you can buy.

67 works, you just have to use your original rod. The 67 is too long.

I was just reading the instructions manual on CJ Pony last night, thinking about doing it for my 64 170ci. This will give you an idea what is involved and answer some questions.. Bolt on and a couple line changes. For both the Drum and Disc brakes.

The kit from CJ is actually what I have on my car. The MC looks like that 67 one and not like the one pictured.

Its on page 62 of CJ's catalog.

The MC I got when I bought DBC4 had a dual bowl MC that looked like both bowls were equal size. The MC I got looks like the 67 MC where the front bowl for the rear brakes is smaller. I'm not sure why the picture is different.

Thumbs up

Thanks again everyone. I appreciate the instructions from CJ pony, this is going to be my next little project, changing the MC, spring kits and wheel cylinders. The car has been sitting for a while and I want to handle the brakes first and foremost. Thanks again everyone, always a reliable source.
