You'll need a hand grinder, most are 4 1/2" to 5" and 2 disks at least depending on their quality as well as a heavy set of gloves, eye protection, etc.
Had the car out last night for a washing then out to dinner at a weekly gathering. If I get over to the garage today or tomorrow I'll take a picture of how they are assembled after I cut the leaf. I decided I didn't want to cut the brackets.. might want to use the regular leafs down the road.

I'm running the Slide-A-Links on our '66 with 5 leafs and I'm quite happy with them. I made them fit by carefully cutting off the lower leaf support bracket and re-positioning it lower so that both leaf springs would fit in. They have been on the car for a couple of years now and did wonders to remove wheel hop.
