4 to 5 gear conversion 1967 Fstb 390 GT
Hi all,
i was wondering which the most uncomlicated way would be, to convert the 4 speed to a 5 speed. Maybe a T-5 Tremec?
thx for all input!

i checked the FAQ, but i only found Auto to T5 conversions.
Is it then the easiest thing to change from toploader-4 to T5?
thx

T-5. All you would need would be a fulcrum spacer (if you use the T-5 bell) and a crossmember. You might have to shorten the driveshaft as well.
If you want to use your existing bell, you'll need the adapter.
Check out the link below, it pretty much explains it all.

Might want something a bit stouter than a T-5 if you've still got a 390 under the hood.

I agree. Even the T5z is only rated to 330ft-lbs, which is very easy to exceed with a big block.
If you're set on a 5sp, I'd start looking at TKO's.

What about G-force internals? They can handle some power and probly a little cheaper then a TKO.
